Benefits for instructors

Engineering Professor on zyBooks

“My observations from using zyBooks this semester compared to previous experiences:

1) Students have a better understanding of the material taught in class. My mean score in Exam 1 was a lot higher compared to any other Exam 1 in past ISE 130 classes.

2) The onus of being prepared for class is now on the student as students as required to complete participation activities prior (or close) to the start of the new chapter. The Challenge activities are usually due when we are close to completing the chapter in class.

3) I am repeating concepts a lot less in my current class. Last year I was repeating the same concept 3 or 4 times consecutively as students were consistently asking the same question (even after having it written on the white board). It is time consuming which results in delays.”
