Account Executive

The zyBooks Account Executive is responsible for driving sales growth of zyBooks in university/college accounts throughout North America. This includes mining opportunities in the 2-yr/4-yr college market and closing on those opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the organizational structure, timing and seasonality, and the decision-making process in universities and community colleges.
  • Understanding the needs and issues facing instructors who teach lower-division STEM courses, with emphasis on computer science, engineering and math.
  • Developing account plans and strategy.
  • Communicating educational needs, requirements and trends impacting zyBooks’s roadmap to the product development team.
  • Providing accurate and timely pipeline and forecast information.
  • Maintaining all sales activity data within zyBooks’s CRM.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of sales experience preferred.
  • A record of success in sales, with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Prior experience in Education/EdTech sales is preferred, but not necessary. Particular experience selling to STEM college-level instructors is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems.
  • Highly motivated and organized. Ability to work independently.
  • A passion for making a difference in education.

Education BS/BA degree preferred.

DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a part-time DevOps Engineer to join a small team looking to make a big impact on our existing infrastructure.  You will be responsible for helping develop process and proper tooling to ease the burden of our growing stack and architecture. Candidates will be expected to help develop best practices, standards, and processes for the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying deficiencies in an existing cloud-based infrastructure, and helping team to refactor as necessary to support rapid scaling.
  • Implementing monitoring solutions that automatically detect any issues in the software stack and communicate those issues to relevant personnel.
  • Generating well defined and documented standard processes.
  • Regularly performs technical reviews of current tools/systems to identify deficiencies.
  • Research and development of new technologies related to our domain.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or Equivalent years of experience (5+).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in DevOps.
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Certification preferred.
  • Strong in at least one programming language. Some experience with Python is preferred.
  • Comfortable with MySQL
  • Strong cloud skills using AWS stack. Strong networking background, including familiarity with DNS.
  • Experience with containers and virtualization (Docker).
  • Site Reliability and/or Build & Release experience.
  • Effective communicator.

Product Marketing Manager

The position is responsible for developing positioning, messaging,  and competitive differentiation. As a Product Marketing Manager, you will be accountable for all outbound marketing activities for your products. You will craft the messaging and positioning for products. You’ll conceive and develop innovative marketing programs that drive demand. You will play a crucial role in developing products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. The position plays a crucial  in making certain the Sales and Product teams are aligned and work efficiently to develop happy customers.

You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits is crucial.  In your role as a Product Marketing Manager, you will be the expert in buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria and will transfer that knowledge to the sales channel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates your products in the market
  • Driving all facets of sales enablement, communicating the value proposition of the products to the sales team and develop the sales tools that support the selling process of your products
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.
  • Product launch – plan the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan
  • Market intelligence – be the expert on your buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on your competition and how to crush them
  • Demand generation – develop the strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive demand for your products

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of software product marketing experience with at least 2 years experience in a field facing role
  • Bachelor’s in business, information technology, computer science or marketing or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable in education technology and education
  • Very strong written communication skills
  • Willing to travel 25 – 40%
  • Aptitude for learning new technologies quickly
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties
  • Critical thinker and problem solver who is motivated to seek data to inform his or her work and able to distill insight from a wide array of information sources
